Our History

Umuada Igbo Foundation International is a non-for-profit 501c association founded on March 16th, 2012 by our Founder and first President, Nwada Edith Nwandu( aka -Osisiwu).

Umuada Igbo Foundation International comprises women from the seven Igbo speaking states of Nigeria namely: Imo, Anambra, Enugu, Abia, Ebonyi, Rivers and Delta.

The mission of Umuada Igbo Foundation International is to establish a social forum for women to socialize and support each other with love, peace and oneness.

Our goal is to collaborate with one another in the pursuit of a common vision to re-ignite Igbo values, language and culture in the Diaspora.

Our long-term goals are as follows:

• a) Creating awareness of the Igbo language and culture in Diaspora to avoid extinction of the language within the younger generation.
• b) Teaching our youths Igbo values such as cultural dance, Igbo delicacies and Igbo traditional rites.
• c) Empowering our youths to be proud of Igbo tradition by embracing their heritage as Igbos in Diaspora, collaborating with all Igbo communities and participating in activities that foster family unity, growth and stability.

Umuada Igbo Foundation International supports organizations such as Pacific Garden Mission to empower people facing challenges such as Drug Addiction and Abuse.

Umuada Igbo Foundation is committed to empower women in Nigeria & Diaspora to overcome Domestic Violence by providing financial, emotional and other resources as need be.

As the current President of Umuada Igbo Foundation International, I am fully committed to leading the organization to greater heights and enviable status to make a difference in the lives of our youth & children in Diaspora, support women to excel and overcome domestic violence.

I believe this is an achievable goal by the grace of God.
